Music
The quality of music recorded via radio and phonograph in this decade was not very high. Because of this lack of sufficient high quality audio, live music centers, or anywhere where the tunes were playing, was the place to be. Carnegie Hall opened it's doors on May 5th, 1891.
This decade brought about a style of music called "rag", which featured syncopated piano playing.
"Happy Birthday to You" came out in 1898.
Most composers of the decade were men, such as Charles Ives and Horatio Parker.
